1996, Health Corporation Limited was mandated by the Ministry
of Health to implement the DrugServ Programme in recognition of
the fact that a very high percentage of the population was not filling
prescriptions because of the unaffordability of pharmaceuticals.
The
objectives of the DrugServ Programme are to:
- Provide
high quality pharmaceuticals at affordable prices
- Facilitate
improved patient compliance, especially among patients who are
unable to purchase medication
- Improve
the health status of the Jamaican people
May 9,
1997 saw the opening of the first pharmacy at the Glen Vincent Polyclinic,
3 Trevennion Park Road, Kingston 5, and currently there are ten (10)
DrugServ Pharmacies in operation.
Services
available at DrugServ Pharmacies include the provision
of :
- Prescription
brand name and generic drugs, and Over-the-Counter Drugs (including
cancer medications)
- Blood
Pressure checks
- Blood
sugar Test
- Pregnancy
Test
- Patient
medication counseling by our caring Pharmacists
To date
over 300,000 prescriptions have been filled islandwide through the
DrugServ Programme. All
DrugServ Pharmacies are providers for major health
insurance companies and also for the Jamaica Drugs for the Elderly
Programme and National Health Fund.

we expand to other areas in Jamaica, the DrugServ Pharmacies
will continue to:
